The Department of Adult Correction, Classification and Compensation Section evaluates position duties and determines position levels using the State Classification Systems. The Classification and Compensation Section is also responsible for determining FLSA designations, evaluating and approving premium pay eligibility (shift premium, compensation payout periods, on-call and call back) for all agency positions, and providing consultation on job design, organizational structure/issues. The section maintains position settings, organizational structure in Integrated HR Payroll System, and position history files for all agency positions.

Position will serve as the primary initiator of all OM action requests; responsible for initiating, monitoring/tracking, revising, and completing all OM action requests from beginning to end of the workflow process. Position will further provide office support to the Classification/Compensation Section through file maintenance, reporting, and serving as one of two People Admin administrators for review, entry & granting access to agency position descriptions as well as back up to the OM Settings Coordinator.

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • initiating, modifying, tracking, monitoring, and completion of Organization Management Action Requests (OMAR) as a result of an approved reallocation, IRA, study, new position request or other authorized OM Change Request.
  • work with classification analyst, internal budget personnel, division contacts, OSBM approvers, salary administration staff & BSS personnel.
  • access NEOGOV for applications, assist with completion of salary forms and run reports for Employee Salary Analysis, Employee History, Supervisory Relationships, Position Eligibility, Compensation, FLSA & other reports as needed.
  • Serve as office support in mailbox maintenance, backup to the OM Settings Coordinator, file maintenance, supply inventory, providing customer service, and other responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Basic to working knowledge of State HR systems and processes.
  • Basic knowledge of federal and state laws, and State policies, procedures and practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to handle confidential matters with tact and discretion; to express ideas clearly and concisely; to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions within area of responsibility.
  • Ability to learn and apply rules, procedures, and practices for various human resources management activities or personnel actions.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Associate s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required; or 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.

Pay: $34,084.00 - $59,646.00 per year
