The Department of Adult Correction, Classification and Compensation Section evaluates position duties and determines position levels using the State Classification Systems. The Classification and Compensation section is also responsible for determining FLSA designations; evaluating and approving premium pay eligibility (shift premium, compensation payout periods, on-call and call back) for all agency positions, and providing consultation on job design, organizational structure/issues. The section maintains position settings, organizational structure in Integrated HR Payroll System, and position history files for all agency positions.

Position will serve as the primary OM Design Specialist responsible for identifying, building and modifying organization structures to include division, branch, section, org transfers, position transfers, supervisory relationships and chief designations. This work will include working directly with BEST Shared Services (BSS) in communicating the intent, completing/submitting BSS OM Spreadsheets and reviewing the data for accuracy. Position will further serve as an Agency OM Approver and serve as office support to the Classification & Compensation section.

Other Responsibilities Inlcude:

  • Org Management Design and Development that include building new organization structures and modification/maintenance of existing organizational structures in the Integrated HR Payroll System.
  • Evaluate and identify the necessary steps required to modify the Integrated HR Payroll System to match the requested organizational changes.
  • Review OM design/modification requests for content, accuracy, completion and understanding before entering into the Integrated HR/Payroll system.
  • Serve as an Agency OM Approver for workflow (WF) transactions initiated by the Classification & Compensation, OM Initiator or OM Settings Coordinator.
  • Serve as office support in OSHR Submissions (Exception Pay Request), special projects, file maintenance, customer service, and other responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Working to considerable knowledge of State HR systems and processes.
  • Basic to working knowledge of federal and state laws, and State policies, procedures and practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to handle confidential matters with tact and discretion; to express ideas clearly and concisely; to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions within Organizational Management.
  • Ability to learn and apply rules, procedures, and practices for various human resources management activities or personnel actions.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Associate s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience required; or 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.

Pay: $37,577.00 - $65,760.00 per year
