Oregon Freeze Dry, makers of Mountain House, is looking for a talented and customer-focused Human Resources/Benefits Specialist. This role will support our teams in our Albany, Oregon locations with questions and processes related to benefits, leaves and HRIS data entry.

The Role (specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to):*

  • Use knowledge of Oregon and Federal laws, as well as company policy to effectively answer employee and leadership questions related to benefits and leave; provide paperwork and timely responses as needed.
  • Help determine and track if employees are eligible for protected leave under OFLA/FMLA or ADA, and effectively communicate to employees and leaders.
  • Send documentation to employees or healthcare providers to help expedite employee leave or related requests; ensure compliance with HIPAA, FMLA/OFLA or other regulations.
  • Help employees’ complete new hire or open enrollment paperwork for benefits; answer questions and help ensure documentation is completed. May participate in new hire orientations or open enrollment meetings.
  • Accurately input employee data into ADP or other Human Resources Information Systems; including changes in status, compensation, position, new hires, terminations, etc.
  • Process terminations; ensure that all actions on the termination check list occur, final check is processed to meet compliance guidelines and all communications take place in a timely fashion.
  • Organize and complete personnel paperwork; ensure all required information and signatures are included. Makes copies, puts together packets, scan documents; as needed.
  • Answer various employee and leadership questions regarding general human resource related policies and practices; provides paperwork as needed. At all times provide excellent customer service.
  • Respond to external inquiries such as verifying employment, unemployment claims, etc.
  • Assist with personnel record maintenance including filing, pulling files as requested.
  • Provide back up and break support for Receptionist activities, including all corresponding duties.

What You Will Bring (minimum qualifications):

  • High school diploma or equivalent, college level coursework in Human Resources or other external training or certifications specific to the field.
  • Two years’ experience in Human Resources or experience with related responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of an HRIS or similar record keeping system; OFD uses ADP, so experience with this program will help support the learning and onboarding of this role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OFLA, FMLA, ADA compliance requirements and processes; also knowledge of general benefits plan designs and ability to learn company specific benefits to effectively answer questions.
  • Experience in a role handling sensitive information requiring a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills at all levels internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Extreme accuracy and organization is essential for data entry and record keeping purposes.
  • Must have reliable transportation to transport self between company facilities during work hours, as needed, and transportation to and from off-site company events.
