Provide specialized consultation, manage the immigration and visa process, and assist international faculty and staff; assist in the development and delivery of employee orientation and other workshops; and maintain international employee university-managed databases.

Essential Job Functions
Immigration and Office of the Provost Consultation
  • Provide comprehensive support and consultation to employees and departments on immigration and visa requirements and processes while ensuring compliance with various laws.
  • Facilitate the processing of appropriate immigration documents of non-resident alien professional employees at the university.
  • Coordinate with Legal Counsel, Provost Office, and external counsel for guidance to ensure adherence to compliance on processing and maintenance of H-1B and other visas, including forms, reports, and publications.
  • Advise HR partners and other university stakeholders on immigration matters and provide subject matter expertise.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Office of the Provost to provide leadership consultation and assist in resolving workplace relations matters, including performance coaching.
  • Responsible for executing policies, procedures, and oversight of immigration standards for hiring international professional employees (i.e., H1b, O-1, TNs, Permanent Resident applications).


ADA Accommodation and Workplace Relations Consultation
  • Consult on accommodation programs, options, relevant ADA, disability, and other leaves, and work with cross-functional partners and teams on risk mitigation.
  • Oversee complex workplace relations matters and perform thorough case management with implementation, tracking accommodation transitions, and follow-up.
  • Communicate with appropriate medical providers, employees, managers, and HR partners to seek clarity of issues and follow up on certified limitations.
  • Maintain required documentation and provide metrics and data to university leadership as required.
  • Provides guidance to management on FMLA and ADA obligations and best practices. Advises employees on their FMLA and ADA rights and guides the application process. Collaborates with the Total Rewards team to review and process FMLA claims and ADA accommodation requests.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and university policies, including but not limited to FLSA, NLRB, FMLA, ADA, FCRA, Form I-9, sick leave, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications
Required:

Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of Human Resources experience with knowledge of immigration practices and an understanding of or responsibility for managing ADA processes while working with employees and cross-functional partners

  • Strong communication skills; interpersonal, oral, and written.
  • Agility in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
  • Aptitude to use data analysis and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge to quickly recognize and analyze irregular events.
  • High level of professionalism and being exceptionally organized, timely, and accurate.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.




Preferred Qualifications
Preferred -
Three years of demonstrated experience developing and implementing processes and procedures to enhance HR or Disability Management Certification.
