Morrison Center is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Special Education professional to serve as IEP Coordinator/Teacher Mentor for our school age and preschool programs. Applicants will have proven experience interacting with parents, teachers, and community members in a positive and professional fashion; the ability to communicate, write and present in a clear, concise, and well-planned manner; knowledge of curriculum, special education law, and school law.

Essential Functions include:

• Organizing all aspects of IEP meetings: document invitations/responses, arrange meetings space and teacher coverage.
• Gather input/data from all team members and draft IEPs.
• Finalize IEPs and provide copies to parents and districts.
• Read and review current IEPs and disseminate information to teachers and relevant service providers.
• Send signed IEPs to Special Education Department within timelines.
• Ensure that each student has a special education folder, and that IEPs are current.
• Prepare, mail, and maintain records of IEP progress reports.
• Assist teachers in developing IEPs and evaluate IEPs for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Provide professional development and consultation to teachers on student programming.
• Assist in data collection for reporting purposes.
• Work with districts on students referred.
• Serve as IEP representative for Morrison Center at IEP meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Special Education Certification in the state of Maine (282)
• Current Criminal History Record Check (CHRC).
• 3-5 years of experience working with children/adolescents with disabilities in a school setting.
• Minimum of 5 years special education experience

This is a year-round, 12-month position.
