Briljent is seeking an Incident Review Specialist to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and assigns codes to incidents meeting the criteria of reportable incidents submitted to the State of Indiana through a web-based program according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Research previous incidents and identifies trends according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Communicates identified trends to service providers and other appropriate agencies according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Communicates identified risks to service providers and other appropriate agencies according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Determines and communicates the need for additional information and follow-up reports to service providers and other appropriate agencies according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Reviews additional information and follow-up reports received from service providers according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Provides requested information to service providers according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Assists in providing training to service providers on completing incident reports according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Assists in providing training to service providers and other appropriate agencies on identifying and mitigating risks according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Assists service providers and other appropriate agencies with writing and implementing risk management plans according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Ensures appropriate authorities are notified of incidents of abuse, neglect, exploitation, death and any other major health and safety concerns according to established guidelines and timeframes
  • Works a rotating weekend and holiday schedule
  • Ensures quality supports are aligned with person-centered principles
  • Assures contract compliance by delivering quality services and meeting all contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements pertaining to this role
  • Completes assigned online training courses designed to create a culture of quality, inclusion, and high performance
  • Meets expectations in Quality Control measures that determine incident review quality and compliance such as monthly Incident Review Scores and quarterly Interrater reliability.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, special education, behavioral health, or related field
  • Effective communication skills – non-defensive, fact-based, clear, and concise speech
  • Work planning: Uses time effectively, organizes work, sets priorities, and maintains efficient workflow. Able to work at a computer for up to eight hours a day
  • Flexibility: Adapts to changes in procedures and assignments. Learns and functions satisfactorily under different situations. Works well under pressure. Shows patience in the face of demands
  • Independence: Initiates and performs job duties without constant or direct supervision.
  • Judgment / following procedures: Involves use of judgment in selecting the most applicable guidelines or procedures to follow in a variety of situations. Exercises practical thinking and foresees consequences of actions. Distinguishes between those situations appropriate for own handling and those situations requiring referral to another person
  • Critical thinking: Able to analyze information and apply critical thinking to situations
  • Confidentiality: Understands and abides by HIPAA regulations. Duties require utmost confidentiality
  • Work commitment: Exhibits interest and enthusiasm in performance of job
  • Interpersonal relationship: Interacts satisfactorily with others (co-workers and external customers) in a manner that promotes cooperation and efficiency
  • Sensitivity: Compassion and respect when involved in document retrieval and in all communication with public
  • Experience with I/DD; CMS Home and Community Based Services (HCBS); Quality Improvement; and Indiana 460 IAC Article 6 and 7 is preferred
  • Working knowledge of person-centered practices with children and adults who have an intellectual or other developmental disability, including an understanding of the LifeCourse Framework, is highly desirable
