Job Summary:


The Instructional Designer analyzes, designs, develops, delivers, and evaluates learning solutions and learner performance in support of Langley's People strategy. They apply expertise in instructional systems design methodology and adult learning techniques to create training and development solutions in a variety of delivery methods including Instructor-led classroom training, virtual instructor led training and eLearning. Working closely with Training & Development specialists, they ensure that all training solutions reflect industry best practice and support organizational needs.



Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with internal business partners and subject matter experts to conduct training needs assessments.
  • Actively participates on project teams to support the development and delivery of training for specific business initiatives and strategies.
  • Utilizing instructional systems design and adult learning principles, designs and develops training and development solutions to include frontline new hire training, reskill/upskill of existing employees, and other areas as defined by the Langley People Strategy and the enterprise learning and development plan.
  • Works to ensure that training solutions meet business goals and optimal performance outcomes.
  • Creates supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.) for new and existing training programs.
  • Applies tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods including ADDIE.
  • Conducts instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
  • Stays informed of the current trends in training and development.
  • Works closely with Training and Development specialists to establish consistent standards for all delivered training programs.
  • Utilizes the Learning Management System (LMS) for effective training and development.
  • Evaluates learning effectiveness and implements program improvements to ensure that they reflect industry best practice and meet organizational needs.
  • Performs quality assurance on all learning and development materials to ensure they reflect Langley culture, are technically accurate, and instructionally sound.
  • Periodically delivers in-person and virtual training.

Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year College or University or an equivalent combination of experience education or training required.
  • Experience in instructional design and with instructional technology required.
  • Experience with course development software required (Articulate 360 Suite preferred).
  • Experience performing administrative functions in any Learning Management System.
  • Experience delivering and facilitating instructor led classroom training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Instructional Design or other relevant training and performance certification.
  • Experience designing, developing and delivering training in a Credit union or other Financial service organization
  • Experience using visual design software (eg. Photoshop, Illustrator) and demonstrated ability to storyboard.
