Intake Counselor Job at Aurora Vista del Mar Hospital
Summary
To assess the needs of people seeking an assessment and ensure their referral to the service or resource that best addresses those needs. To link recipients to appropriate resources or care providers; to admit based on Admission Criteria and Medical Necessity as well as to provide a smooth compassionate admission process for patients and their families. You will also be responsibile for completing initial authorizations with insurance companies for the level of care that is needed.
Job Requirements
Master’s Degree in a related field (counseling, psychology, social work.). (preferred)
At least 2 years' experience working in mental health field.
Experience with conducting assessments to identify risk factors.
Minimum Work Experience
2 years of experience preferred. Basic knowledge of medical terminologies; skills in analyzing and evaluating information; problem solving skills; excellent oral communication skills; legible handwriting, ability to conentrate on tasks and meet deadlines; ability to confidentially maintian all information; persuasive skills with prospective patients and family members who demonstrate denial or resistance to treatment. Utilization experience preffered. Reports to community and/or state agencies regarding any patient issues as required by law and represents Vista del Mar Hospital in legal proceedings as required. Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.
Upholds the Organization’s ethics and customer service standards. Performs related duties, as requested.
Required License
Current California licensure as LPCC, LCSW, or MFT/ or Registered Associate
