STATUS: FT/40 Hours- Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm

The Salvation Army is looking to fill a Full-time Intake Worker position. The successful candidate for this position will be computer literate in MS Office suite and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance and more.

The Intake Worker will manage the general operations of the intake area providing information and referrals, medication, and access to luggage and checked in items. This person will monitor and supervise clients, investigate and report activity and incidents appropriately. This position will gather statistical information form participants sign up sheets and client registrations and enter into HMIS completing any intake assessments of clients arriving during the evening shift. This position will monitor facility cameras and make periodic rounds of the facility. This employee will provide good customer service to clients providing proper forms and hygiene items.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with homeless population
  • Able to maintain a non-judgement attitude and a professional approach working with clients
  • Ability to use HMIS and Bridges software program
  • Computer literate in MS Office Software
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Able to handle crisis/emergency situation or services for the homeless and to utilize crisis intervention, crowd management and conflict resolution skills
  • Certification in First Aide, CPR and AED required. If not current, certification must be obtained.
  • Ability to assess at risk participants and situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Successful background clearance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
