IT Analyst – Systems Trainer Job at Starr Companies

The candidate will function as a trainer within the IT Adoption Team providing Starr’s business staff the training they need to acclimate to new and enhanced technologies.

The work product will vary by application and business area/insurance product, but will include gathering requirements, becoming proficient on a system, preparing the training, and delivering it. Many of the Starr systems are supplied/managed by external vendors, therefore the candidate may interact with external parties in addition to working closely with other Starr IT and business teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver live, virtual training classes, demonstrations and multimedia curricula.
  • Assess training needs by gathering requirements and identifying changes to the user workflow.
  • Develop expertise in the functionality and operation of critical enterprise applications and processes.
  • Assist with developing communications for product/system enhancements.
  • Ensure training effectiveness by gathering user feedback and metrics on system usage.
  • Respond to individual user questions on new functionality through Teams chats and calls.
  • Collaborate on innovative methods to improve adoption and user confidence in systems.
  • Create new and maintain existing training materials through ongoing review and updates.

Job Specifications: Knowledge, skills and abilities required for competent performance in the job

  • Bachelor’s degree (Information Technology, Communications, or related field preferred)
  • Enthusiasm for learning and teaching
  • Strong virtual training presence and facilitation skills
  • End-user focused; experienced with change management and adoption strategies
  • Tech savvy
  • Able to explain technical terms plainly and concisely
  • Excellent written communication skills – able to develop inspiring communications
  • Basic understanding of/experience in the insurance industry
  • Experience designing technical course material
  • Creative and collaborative
  • Competent in Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
