Junior Developer

RCX Sports is looking for a junior web developer to join our growing development team. In this role you will assist in enhancing our proprietary software focused on the operation of youth sports leagues. This is an entry level role intended for a recent college graduate, or someone new to the world of professional web development. Initial tasks will be focused on bug fixes and minor feature development, with increasing responsibility expected over time.

As a junior developer at RCX Sports you will work with a small team across business operations, product, and web development. Strong organization and communication skills are key to success. This role will work heavily with PHP and MySQL. The ideal candidate is eager to assist in project development, takes pride in their role, and has a passion for the enhancement of youth sports experiences.

What you’ll do:

• Review new bug reports and run tests to replicate and document the issue
• Triage issues, resolving bugs where possible and prioritizing others for escalation
• Provide feedback and support to end users experiencing issues
• Resolve errors in database records causing issues
• Build SQL queries to troubleshoot and run custom reports as needed
• Develop and test minor changes and bug fixes to existing code base, with escalating responsibility expected over time
• Write and maintain documentation for development projects

More about the role:

• Work Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week) Monday-Friday
• Location: Remote (US)
• Reports to: Vice President – Head of Product & Development
• Supervisory Responsibilities: None

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science field (or similar) from an accredited university
• Experience working with SQL databases – (MySQL preferred)
• Basic understanding of programming concepts
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Professional experience working with PHP (preferred)
• Experience working on a development team (preferred)
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and ability to build authentic, collaborative relationships with internal and external partners
