The Opportunity:

IAC/Expedia Global has a Corporate Flight Department based in Des Moines, Iowa. We currently operate two late-model Embraer Legacy 450 aircraft.

The Captain shall have command of, and overall responsibility for, the flight crew, passengers, cargo, the SAFE conduct of the flight, and provide guidance and coordinate the activities of every individual connected with all phases of the aircraft operation. The Captain performs duties and responsibilities as Pilot in Command (PIC), exercising final authority for, and responsibility of, the aircraft in support of Company goals. The Captain reports to the Chief Pilot and all duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations. Alternates as Flying Pilot and Pilot Monitoring flying duties at the discretion of the Pilot in Command.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform PIC and SIC flight duties in compliance with Federal Air regulations, aircraft limitations, flight manual procedures and company policies and procedures.
  • Work within Flight Operations to maintain a culture of safety with efficient procedures that support customer service.
  • Retains the final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft (FAR 91.3).
  • Directs the activities of the flight crew ensuring a full understanding of their duties and responsibilities
  • Ensures that the assigned aircraft is airworthy and that all proper documents are on board the aircraft
  • Makes decisions as necessary to the start, delay or cancellation of the flight, or deviation from a planned destination when operating conditions dictate.
  • Obtains briefing on the purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures and any special instructions, and plans flight assignments.
  • Prepares or supervises preparation of flight plan considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, airport facilities and navigational aids
  • Ensures that weather and aircraft performance conditions can be met. Ensures that the aircraft weight and balance form/manifest is properly completed.
  • Ensures that a flight plan or other authorized flight location procedure is followed on each flight.
  • Reports all known or suspected FAA violations or incidents promptly to the Director of Aviation.
  • Ensures that crewmembers brief all passengers with the appropriate briefing for each phase of flight.
  • Ensures that emergency equipment as well as provisions for passenger comfort are on board and ensures that all cargo is properly secured.
  • Ensures the preparation of flight logs, reporting of mechanical irregularities, and recording of maintenance, by maintenance personnel when maintenance is performed en route.
  • Ensures that all maintenance discrepancies are passed to the maintenance personnel and that maintenance is alerted to the current status of the aircraft.
  • Ensures that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all aircraft stores and appropriate catering provisions on board for the safety and comfort of passengers and crew.
  • Maintain a high level of proficiency in and technical knowledge of the aircraft assigned.
  • Maintain and keep records to substantiate currency in aircraft assigned and all licenses, ratings and certificates related to duties as a flight crew member.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in the business aviation field.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
  • Previous practical experience required.
  • 1st class medical required.
  • Minimum of 2,500 hours total time with a minimum of 500 hours being Multiengine. In addition, a minimum of 300 turbine engine hours. Type Rated in Legacy 450 or comparable type. Will work on an on-call basis.
  • Must live within 2 hours of Des Moines or be willing to relocate.
  • Must be highly skilled in all areas of aircraft operations. Current FAA Airman certificates as required. Commercial Certification required. ATP or able to acquire with manufacturer’s approved pilot training for each aircraft assigned. FAA type rating as required for all aircraft assigned.
  • >90% travel required (approximately)
