General Duties
The role of a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) is to provide the special skill and knowledge of a Social Worker in the context of mental health therapy for their clients. They are dedicated to enriching the lives of clients by helping them to overcome perceived obstacles in their lives as well as to transcend their personal problems and difficult emotional and behavioural patterns.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients situation to determine needs and goals
- Refer correct treatment centres to patients
- May provide appropriate evidence-based psychotherapy with individuals, groups and families
- Develop appropriate goal-focused, person-centred, treatment plans containing measurable goals and objectives; obtaining client and other stakeholders
- Provide clinical consultation and support as needed
- Maintain communication as needed with external treatment teams and professionals
- Participate in quality and compliance reviews of all clinical charts
- Provides in-service training on relevant topics for co-workers as requested
- Provide written document of counselling sessions, assessments, interventions and recommendations for medical documentations
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops and serving on special committees
Qualifications
- Obtain a degree in counselling or a counselling-related field from an accredited college or university
- State licensed Master’s level Social Worker
- With experience in mental health counselling preferred
- Familiarity and comfort working with issues related to a mental health diagnosis, substance abuse and history of trauma
- Strong interpersonal, written, oral communication and computer skills; proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences
- Current CPR certification
- May work in a shifting work duty
- Commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use is essential
- Authorization to work in the US is required
