Maintenance & Safety Coordinator Job Description

Position Summary: This position is responsible to preserve the excellent condition and functionality of our facility. This position will be responsible to conduct quality assessments, scheduling repairs, and developing preventative maintenance procedures and schedules. In addition, this position will work closely with the HR department to implement and monitor the company’s safety program throughout the shop.

Essential Functions (Other duties as assigned):

· Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on all production machines

· Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and testing instruments

· Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitors compliance.

· Maintains equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies, placing and expediting orders and verifying receipt.

· Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

· Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel, and follow safety protocol.

· Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.

· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

· In conjunction with the Human Resources department implements safety program throughout the shop.

· Responsible for conducting safety observation reports on a regular basis

· Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation.

· Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace

· Along with HR, investigates accidents that occur onsite and identify possible cause and appropriate correction to prevent future accidents.

Education and Required Skills:

· High School Diploma required

· Basic Computer skills and experience with excel required.

· Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems

· Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods

· Experienced in operating a variety of equipment including small hand tools

· Excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting dealines

Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to noise levels consistent with a mill work factory environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
