The Village of Flossmoor is accepting applications for the full-time position of Maintenance Worker with the Public Works Department. This position performs a variety of routine tasks in the maintenance and repair of public improvements. The position works under the general supervision of the Department Foremen but may act as a lead worker on assigned tasks. The incumbent must work outside in all weather extremes and, when necessary, is required to report to work when off-duty or when assigned to overtime work, including snow plowing and water main break repairs.

One to three years of experience performing construction, maintenance, landscape restoration, or work of a comparable nature is required. Previous municipal public works experience is preferred; additional specialized or technical training is desirable. Other combinations of education and experience which could provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job may be considered.

Qualified candidates must possess a valid Class A CDL Illinois Vehicle Operators License or obtain it within six months of employment. All applicants must submit to a background check. Upon being offered employment, the successful candidate will be required, as a condition of employment, to take and pass a physical exam, which includes a drug screen. All public works employees are subject to periodic, random drug and alcohol testing.

The salary range is $61,981 to $77,476. The starting salary is dependent on qualifications. The Village of Flossmoor offers exceptional benefits, including membership in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) and an optional deferred compensation investment plan.
