Alcoa Corporation is seeking a Manager - Alumina and Bauxite Trading to join the Commercial Finance team based in Knoxville, Tennessee or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Commercial Finance team which is a critical part of Alcoa’s global finance function. While positioned within Finance, this role allows the candidate to interact with and support key members of Alcoa’s Commercial and Operations teams, creating an opportunity to develop broad knowledge of the Company beyond finance. This role is responsible for the accounting, financial planning & analysis, and internal controls over the Company’s U.S. alumina trading entity and certain aspects of the Company’s bauxite joint ventures.
The position allows the candidate to develop a breadth of knowledge about the alumina and bauxite business, and how they interact within the Company’s integrated supply chain. This role is seeking an agile finance professional who is ready to expand their reach across the Company’s business segments and regions. The position plays a key role in preparing financial analysis and reporting of quarterly and annual financial results to the Company’s Executive Team and investors. This position requires a results-oriented, innovative thinker, with a continuous improvement mindset and exceptional communication skills, who demonstrates the highest level of integrity and trust.
The position reports to the Sr. Manager - Commercial Finance. The ideal candidate should possess the skills and experience to be able to meet the requirements described within, and should be motivated to work closely with the Director - Commercial Finance to innovate key processes, enhance critical analysis and help move the Company forward.
Major activities of this position include:
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly closing and reporting processes for Alcoa’s bauxite and alumina HQ activities, including Alcoa Steamship. Perform critical financial analysis over the results of the alumina trading activity and bauxite joint venture results
  • Manage the monthly and annual forecasting and planning processes for Alcoa’s bauxite and alumina HQ activities; include volume forecasts and related demand planning
  • Assess the accounting treatment for more complex trades and activities, such as swap arrangements
  • Assess current applicable close and forecast process workstreams in conjunction with new financial system go-live to identify and implement process improvements
  • Present forecasts/results to key members of Commercial Finance leadership
  • Act as a key liaison between the U.S. and Brazilian finance teams as it pertains to U.S. GAAP and local GAAP reporting requirements
  • Prepare analysis for quarterly and annual financial reports and investor presentations
  • Be the Finance Business Partner of the alumina and bauxite business, supporting Commercial, Supply Chain and Operations
  • Analyze working capital changes and provide insights on key business drivers and working capital strategies
  • Drive critical process enhancements across the commercial functions of the business segments through use of automation, collaboration and business insights

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting

  • Enthusiastic about working in a team environment / good collaborator
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CPA certification
  • Master's degree / MBA
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Experience with enterprise performance management systems
  • Working knowledge of Oracle or equivalent ERP system, and Financial Planning systems (Hyperion or equivalent)
