The Manager, Corporate Development & Strategy will report to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development & Strategy and will have direct oversight of Corporate Development & Strategy (CD&S) processes for a variety of projects including but not limited to acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and partnership deals. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to carry out a range of tasks, such as assisting in strategic planning, coordinating project planning, building financial models, and conducting competitive intelligence and market research.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Develop and prepare comprehensive memoranda summarizing investment and new business venture evaluations and findings.
  • Optimize and maintain business development books along with internal tools that track all active and inactive deal activities. This includes drafting, organizing, tracking, and maintaining large, complex documents.
  • Formulate presentations and reports for Senior Management and Boards of Directors covering investment opportunities and project development updates.
  • Develop and manage database of fit-for-purpose tracking and reporting templates/processes capturing identified CD&S metrics and other group and Company requirements.
  • Standardize and maintain front to end processes to be used on all CD&S deals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external groups to structure commercial legal documents (LLC Agreements, Construction Management Agreements, Operation Agreements, Letters of Intent, and Term Sheets) with multiple iterations of these documents.
  • Anticipate alternative outcomes and develop scenario analysis and contingency plans to drive the company’s strategic direction.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge:

The optimal candidate must have advanced financial modeling knowledge, project management experience, experience in creating and maintaining business development books and presentations and advanced knowledge of process efficiencies.

This individual must understand energy market fundamentals, LNG industry and key elements of the energy business. Finance and/or investment banking experience is preferred.

Skills:

  • Demonstrate ability to analyze complex datasets and markets, able to draw out key trends and insights, as well as economic and business rationales for decisions based on fundamental analysis and primary research.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the global energy industry including markets, projects, participants, trade patterns, value drivers, commercial structures and commercial.
  • Fundamental understanding of business development and commercialization activities including alignment with corporate strategy, project feasibility and finance ability, risk/reward, and the competitive landscape.
  • Adept at Excel financial modeling and proficient in PowerPoint.
  • Highly motivated, reliable self-starter with exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Effective communication at all levels of the organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines and industries.
  • Sound judgment with ability to think critically, solve problems, exercise excellent judgment, and manage multiple time-sensitive matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education, Training and Certifications : Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline such as math, statistics, economics, finance, business or a related field is required, Graduate Degree preferred.

Experience :

8+ years’ relevant experience, preferably within Corporate Development in the LNG and/or Energy sector, or 4+ years of Investment Banking experience.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
