West Central Behavioral Health, the non-profit community behavioral health center serving lower Grafton County and Sullivan County, New Hampshire, is embarking on a four-year, transformational effort to become a federally-recognized Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. This will enable West Central to continue to provide high-quality, person- and family-centered mental and substance use disorder services to the underserved individuals of all ages, including our veterans, regardless of their ability to pay.

West Central is seeking applicants for the Manager of Development & Community Relations (DCR).

The Manager, DCR is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and support of high-level DCR department functions to raise funding and increase the visibility for the organization. These include grant writing and grant management; marketing and communications; community and donor outreach and education, corporate relations, and special events. This position includes occasional early morning, evening and weekend hours, and can be partially remote.

Responsibilities: (not a complete list)
  • Grant Writing and Management: Prepare, submit, manage, track deadlines, and report on a variety of grant proposals to foundations, corporations and governmental agencies. Research and evaluate potential grant opportunities. Engage with program staff and finance department to develop grant proposal and related budgets.
  • Communications and Community Relations: develop and manage a social media plan that maximizes exposure and increases user interaction in the community. Contribute content for and manage marketing and communication vehicles. Draft and disseminate monthly online newsletter.
  • Events: Implement event marketing strategies, manage logistics and cultivate and steward sponsorships and donations of in-kind goods and services.
  • Development: Assist with donor development, including annual appeals and major gift cultivation. Encourage DCR Committee members and identified Board members to ensure 100% participation in giving. Attend and participate in DCR Committee meetings.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; degree in English, communication, non-profit, or marketing.
  • Master’s degree preferred in one of the referenced disciplines
  • Familiarity with donor database management systems
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: grant writing/management, public relations, journalism, non-profit, sales or marketing, communications, content creation, and social media.
  • Proven success with written grant proposals preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, organization
