The role you’ll contribute:

The Medical Laboratory Scientist LP is responsible for laboratory support procedures, including processing of all laboratory specimens in all areas of the clinical laboratory. Maintains accurate laboratory records. Follows laboratory policies and procedures; maintains quality control practices in the laboratory. Acquires state licensure and or/national certification within 120 days of hire.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Attends and completes all AdventHealth and Laboratory orientation requirements
  • Starts initial training in area assigned using previously tested samples and LIS test site; including instrument operation and maintenance, QC and LIS training
  • Assists with data collection and special projects as assigned
  • Assists in the documentation and submission of required laboratory, departmental, and staff statistics/reports
  • Performs assigned pre-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, which may include general and analytical equipment maintenance, function checks and documentation; specimen collection as needed; biological specimen processing; cleaning and disinfection of selected or assigned laboratory equipment and spaces; quality control and calibration performance; and other pre-analytical activities
Qualifications


The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, biological, or chemical laboratory science or medical technology field

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • One year of clinical lab experience or completion of a clinical internship in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent program

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Eligible for state licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technologist or equivalent term for assigned work area based on the state regulatory agencies.
  • Eligible for national certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Scientist or equivalent as required by respective state.
  • Appropriate state licensure and/or appropriate national certification if required to be obtained within 120 days of hire.
