The Opportunity Alliance is hiring for a Youth and Family Navigator to join our Mobile Crisis and Outreach program!

The Youth and Family Navigator is a professional youth mental health and suicide prevention position serving communities Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Oxford, Sagadahoc, and York counties. This position provides direct support to youth and families at risk of suicide, including both crisis intervention and intermediate-term wellness coordination. This staff person supports individual, family and community efforts to raise awareness about services and programs that mitigate the risks of suicide in youth. All work is performed with the goal and intention of maintaining a trauma informed, strengths-based, and recovery-oriented framework. These services are provided both directly (face to face) as well as through alternative systems (e.g., phone, text message, and digital media).

This is a 40 hour/week, full-time, hourly position located in Portland, ME.

Qualifications:
  • High School Degree with six years of educational training and/or experience in mental health or counseling required. Bachelor’s Degree in the field of mental health, social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to complete C-SSRS training program within 30 days of employment.
  • Special skill areas: Technical literacy, knowledge of DSM-V, solid oral and written communication, strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Flexible schedule is required.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency is a requirement.
  • Demonstrated competence with critical thinking especially as it relates to assessing information, ethical decision making, and problem solving is required.
  • The ability to maintain all tracking and reporting requirements for grant funding.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work across differing systems, within a team framework, which encompass different rules, governing policies, and leadership styles across cultural perspectives.
  • Contracts that have Rider D: Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service heck, and sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Normal office conditions such as sitting, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required.
