- Communicates with managers, principals, plant engineers, and head custodians on work orders; reads labels on materials to use products properly; fills out work orders on a daily basis.
- Plans and prepares job sites for painting; including, preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint, arranging brushes, brushing/spraying paints, lacquer, rustproof agents, or other coatings onto metal, wood-stock, or fabricated items, masonry services, fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g. plaster); uses ladders, scaffolds, boom truck as needed; cleans areas after completion of work.
- Applies paints and other finishes to various surfaces.
- Prepares the surrounding area by covering with cloth or plastic to prevent messes; removing fixtures such as door knobs and light switch covers and tapes off areas, as needed.
- Moves furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project.
- Determines the required materials and timeframe required for projects.
- Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete.
- Maintains equipment on a daily basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three (3) years commercial or residential painting or closely related experience is required.
