Position Overview: The Bilingual Options Counselor (OC) is a key member of the GLSS team, charged with providing information and resources to older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers. The Bilingual OC uses a person-centered approach, working collaboratively with individuals and families to empower them with information about community services and resources, and to support them in evaluating and accessing these resources.
Position Responsibilities: Initiate outreach activities in the community to educate hospitals, nursing facilities, health care providers, housing programs, and other community-based organizations about the Options Counseling service, as well as other services available through GLSS. Work collaboratively with individuals and families to empower them with information about community services and resources and to support them in evaluating and accessing these resources.
- Associates degree in Human Services or Community Health Worker certification with human services experience required. Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred
- Fluent in Spanish
- Strong desire to help others with the ability to establish positive and professional relationships
- Knowledge of community resources
- Experience with community outreach or network-building
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to process information accurately
- The ability to appropriately handle confidential and personal information
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license for community outreach and home visits
Hours:
Part Time - 20 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
