AMHC is excited to offer the Full-Time position of OPTIONS Substance Use Crisis Counselor, who is duly trained in substance use recovery treatment methods as well as Crisis Intervention approaches. This person will provide an overdose response in their designated community. The OPTIONS Crisis Counselor will provide a brief behavioral health assessment, behavioral health crisis de-escalation, offer referral(s) to community treatment modules, attend to system navigation, offer short-term SUD interventions, educate regarding the use of Naloxone with individuals, family, friends, and aid in the completion of the State’s Medicaid program application for the uninsured population to support individual(s) entering and successfully remaining in treatment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent PLUS more then 12 months of long term recovery from Substance Use is required.
- CADC or LADC is preferred (CADC can be obtained while working for the agency)
- Physical completed every 3 years
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Develop and promotes strong community relationships with law enforcement and first responders
- Responds to SUD/OUD-related emergency calls along with law enforcement, or other first responder agencies
- Support individual(s) in completing a Crisis Intervention plan that works best for their specific need
- Attend to referrals from law enforcement or first responders concerning emergency calls
- Provides linkage to syringe service programs and other Harm Reduction sites as available
- Provides Naloxone kits and Naloxone administration training
- Conducts community-based informational sessions to support the understanding of Substance Use and addiction
Schedule:
- This is a 40-hour per week position for which working hours may vary and are determined by the current needs of the team.
