Orthotist / Prosthetist (Per Diem) in Menands, NY

• At a minimum, this review shall include:

o. The comprehensive review of Prosthetics and Orthotics requests for New York State Medicaid members to determine if the service falls within the scope of coverage of the Medicaid Program and pertinent regulations and established policies/guidelines.
p. Application of professional clinical knowledge and judgment to render decisions that ensure the requested item is appropriate to meet the individual’s medical needs.
q. Working closely with physicians, outside stakeholders, and Medicaid members via written and telephonic correspondence to ensure all required documentation is received and clarified to render a determination.
r. Utilization of national standards for procedure and diagnosis coding, reviewing the appropriate combinations of medical services to identify methods to prevent fraud, waste and abuse.

• Evaluate and research new and emerging technologies to provide analysis and recommendations on a case-by-case or as needed basis.
• Represent the Department during the Fair Hearing process, as outlined in NYCRR Title 18 Part 358-Fair Hearings and Title 11, Section 365-a preparing supporting evidence in written format and serve as subject matter expert on behalf of the Bureau via telephone

This person will work on a per diem basis.

Requirements and/or certifications desired for position:

• 9 years of experience in healthcare
• Candidate must be a Certified Orthotist/Prosthetist
• An Associate degree can count as 2 years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree can count as 4 years of experience, and a Master’s degree can count as 5 years of experience.
