POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all public relations and volunteer relations under the direction of the Administrative Services Coordinator. This position requires compliance with CommuniHealth Services written standards, including the Compliance Plan and policies and procedures (including the Code of Conduct), as well as assistance in the continuous monitoring, reporting and corrective action processes of corporate compliance.

  • Coordinate plan, and attend corporate events, marketing, and community outreach activities.
  • Represents CHS at community events such as ribbon cuttings, open houses, and other such events.
  • Maintains professional promotion inventory.
  • Responsible for maintaining current list of contacts at local organizations for outreach.
  • Develops an outreach budget to include items such as giveaways, event fees, and other associated outreach expenses.
  • Knowledgeable about the services CHS offers and capable of promoting our clinical services to the public.
  • Prepares welcome bags for new employees and new patients.
  • Coordinate and recognize employees for life events; such as graduation and national career holidays.
  • Keeps supervisor informed as to the status of projects or problems that arise.
  • Assists the Administrative Services Coordinator in carrying out various administrative duties.
  • Participates in all appropriate meetings within the organization.
  • Completes required CHS training per policy, maintains compliance with and knowledge of all CHS departmental, facility specific and system-wide policy and procedure, attends mandatory departmental meetings and/or training, and follows CHS Mission, Vision and Values in delivery of all services.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA, Corporate Compliance, and other such healthcare regulations as well as compliance with HRSA regulations.
  • This position requires nights and weekends beyond normal working hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE:

  • High School Diploma or GED

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Experience in public relations field preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter under the direction of the Administrative Services Coordinator.
  • Ability to establish rapport and maintain effective working relationship with patients, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to perform well-organized and detail-oriented work while maintaining privacy in all aspects of the job.
  • Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a cheerful disposition, as well as be willing to handle persons based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter under direction of the Administrative Services Coordinator.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in a well-lighted/ventilated office area of the facility.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Is involved with personnel, patients, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.
  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset personnel, patients, visitors, etc.
  • Is willing to work beyond normal working hours: weekends, holidays, and other shifts/positions as necessary.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.
  • Is subject to cuts, bruises, falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday.
  • May be exposed to blood borne pathogens, infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including the potential exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to handle occasional lifting and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to function independently, have personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with a diverse population, the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
