SCOPE

General Description

Subcontractor shall provide engineering support and integration services to the Savannah River Plutonium Production Facility (SRPPF) mission being performed by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), LLC to support the integration of project engineering activities. Support will be provided for radioactive material packaging. Safety is a primary responsibility for all employees working on and off SRS. Subcontractor shall obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

Task Requirements

Provide an experienced engineer with knowledge of Type B package design and facility loading/unloading operations to support the SRNS NNSA Capital Projects, SRPPF project leadership team, including but not limited to the following:

  • Provide engineering with knowledge of Type B package design and facility loading/unloading
  • Oversee tool design for handling Type B packages and special nuclear material payloads in an NNSA Complex
  • Provide engineering expertise with special nuclear material storage containers along with expertise with vacuum and leak detection systems.
  • Provide engineering expertise with design, development, and installation of automated manufacturing utilizing laser welding, pulse arc welding, robotics, and glovebox technology.
  • Provide timely feedback and recommend solutions to management to improve or mitigate problems affecting execution and coordination.
  • Provide written and verbal analysis and recommendations to management. All work shall be performed using SRNS systems/software.

Experience

  • Subject matter expert experience with Type B package design and facility loading/unloading operations
  • Experience with knowledge of Type B package design and facility loading/unloading operations.
  • Experience with tool design for handling Type B packages and special nuclear material payloads in an NNSA Complex facility.
  • Prior experience with special nuclear material storage containers along with experience with vacuum and leak detection systems is desired.
  • Engineering experience with design, development, and installation of automated manufacturing utilizing laser welding, pulse arc welding, robotics, and glovebox technology is a plus.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate skills using computer software including word processing, email, spreadsheets, power point, and databases

Period of Performance Schedule

  • A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules, including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch.
  • The period of performance shall be for a period of one year from award of this agreement. SRNS reserves the right to exercise two one-year option extensions.

Qualification Criteria

  • An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. Candidate(s) must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance.
