The School District of Beloit has an opening for two (2) Para Educators for the Even Start Family Literacy program. These positions are for 3.25 hours a day. These are part time/permanent positions based on 183 days per year (prorated for 2022-2023). Candidates should have experience working with infant, toddlers and preschool children. Candidates need to demonstrate flexibility, patience, and be able to work as part of a team. Required qualifications: High School diploma or GED, an Associate's degree, or forty eight (48) credits, or proof of successful completion of a WI DPI approved assessment (ACT WorkKeys, ParaPro-Assessment ETS, or ParaEducator Master Teacher). A high school diploma is necessary, but not sufficient. Candidate must hold or be willing to obtain the Wisconsin Para-educator license. Rate of pay is $16.42/hour. Start date is: ASAP. Summary
As a Paraprofessional, under the direction of the classroom teacher you will provide overall support to 4K and early childhood students drive student achievement for the School District of Beloit.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Develops and implements, under the supervision of the EvenStart Coordinator, instructional programs and early childhood lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts to large groups, small groups, and one-to-one instruction in the infant, toddlers and/or 3K classrooms.

  • Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions) for the purpose of communicating information to EvenStart Coordinator and/or school administrator(s).

  • Monitors individuals and/or groups of students in a variety of structured and unstructured settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.

  • Prepares the classroom learning environment and activities for instruction (bulletin boards, art projects, interest and small-group center set-up and family engagement activities.)

  • Attends school and district professional development for the purpose of acquiring information about early childhood education and learning environment.

  • Provides early childhood attendant care duties (mobility, personal hygiene, clothing, feeding, toileting, etc.)



Required Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass Para Assessment Test
  • Shall be eligible for Wisconsin Special Education Program Aide Certification #883 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or 48 credits from a post- secondary institution.
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Working Conditions
Position is located in a school building. Work will be performed primarily at an assigned school campus.

Physical requierements
Continually traversing corridors. Occasionally in a stationary position, sitting or standing, for up to 3 hours. Frequently lifts/moves/carries objects or students up to 50 pounds. Frequently must position self to heights under 3' by stooping, squatting or sitting on the floor. Understands complex problems and explores alternative solutions. Organizes thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology. Constantly works with others; must converse and be understood verbally and in written form. Occasionally must subdue forceful students by using non-violent intervention methods.
