    QUESTIONS

Primary Function

Wor-Wic Community College continuously accepts applications to fill various part-time positions in our correctional education program. These positions include instructors and/or specialists in various subject areas, and are located at the Eastern Correctional Institution.

We are currently filling vacancies for:

  • Adult Education Instructors
  • Employment Readiness Workshop (ERW)
  • Evening Librarian
  • GED® Test Administrator
  • Occupational Skills Partnership
  • Transitional Specialist

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with these positions. Actual duties will vary based on the specific position or subject area, and may include any or all of the following:

  • Teaching students in assigned subject area(s) with an emphasis on reasoning and problem solving
  • Guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals established for the program
  • Administering standardized tests; practice tests; and/or career assessments
  • Assessing the accomplishments of students
  • Preparing students for the GED® test
  • Maintaining educational records
  • Assisting with the transition of inmates who are preparing to return to the community
  • Helping students compile portfolios containing resumes and job applications
  • Conducting job searches and establishing connections with the local American Job Center
  • Consulting with transitional agencies
  • Providing special assistance such as participating in individualized education program meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree may be required
  • Approval of correctional facility principal may be required
  • Teaching positions require one year of teaching experience
  • Specialist positions require one year of experience in workforce development or a related field
  • Excellent organizational, human relations, record-keeping and computer skills
  • Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Word
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree and experience in corrections, workforce development and adult education as applicable
