The Partner Engagement Manager is responsible for seeking and developing new partnerships and strengthening the capability and capacity among partner agencies (pantries, soup kitchens and shelters) to increase equitable access to food assistance in their respective branch region of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB).
Goals are accomplished by partnership development and engagement, including efforts to identify needs and opportunities and assess potential for existing partner agency expansion and enhancement; engage branch staff to implement capacity building plans; strengthen relationships with and facilitate collaboration between partner agencies, including developing and support local/regional coalitions and workgroups; identify ongoing needs and connect partners to training and mentoring programs; collaborate with program managers and coordinators to support the design, planning, development and implementation of nutrition programs; identify and engage with community organizations external to the Food Bank’s network who are working on food insecurity and/or poverty; work and collaborate with staff to survey partners on capacity and capability opportunities, to assess partner goals, Food Bank impact, and potential areas for improvement.
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum three years of relevant work, or professional experience, or education, in two or more areas of the following: community organizing, coalition building, partnership development and engagement, project coordinating or program planning and implementation, facilitation and/or training, or other equivalent, related areas of experience required;
  • Strong active listening skills, and ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Exceptional multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills;
  • Adept at developing rapport with partners and stakeholders in diverse communities;
  • Ability to analyze information and transfer effective practices and knowledge into creative solutions and training opportunities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with customers and colleagues in a professional and confidential manner, as well as work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Solid computer software skills, including Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint), and ability to easily learn new software systems and cloud-based technology platforms;
  • Oral and written fluency in Spanish or another language other than English a plus
  • Nonprofit agency experience desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, human services, public health, or related field a plus
The Partner Engagement Manager is a full-time, offering an effective and healthy work culture, competitive salary, and excellent benefit.
The role is based in Charlottesville and reports to the Director of Partner Engagement. Frequent driving and workday travel to surrounding counties are required to build community connections and visit and monitor partner agencies and programs. Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. (PEM) reports to the Director of Partner Engagement.
