TITLE: Payroll Specialist

REPORTS TO: Human Resources Director

LOCATION: Houston Corporate Office

SUMMARY:

Connectivity Source is a rapidly growing multi-state organization and this position offers career development opportunities for the right candidate. The Payroll Manager will oversee the operations of the company’s payroll department and ensure accurate entry, processing, and recording of the company's multi-state payroll.

Essential Functions:

• Perform daily payroll department operational and supervisory responsibilities over two direct reports
• Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely, including pay cards or manual checks
• Entry of employee updates/changes, files, etc. in preparation of each payroll
• Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
• Execute time and attendance processing and in conjunction with direct reports correct missing time punches
• Review and enter any employee garnishments
• Oversee the payroll department email address and research and respond to employee disputes and questions
• Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
• Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
• Identify opportunities to improve work-flow / processes and implement
• Educate leadership on payroll best practices and compliance

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Strong Excel and math proficiency skills.
• Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in multi-state payroll required.
• Previous Paylocity experience required.
• Supervisor or manager level experience preferred.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
