The pharmacist proactively assures that the customers’ prescriptions are filled accurately and timely, and that the customer is counseled appropriately with all pertinent information on the use of their medication. Pharmacist works 40 hours a week with a one hour lunch; no nights, weekends or holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Reviews prescriptions to assure accuracy.
• Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
• Stays up-to-date with the latest information on drug therapy and side effects.
• Dispenses prescription medications by calculating, weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients or overseeing them.
• Maintains records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
• Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for preparing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
• Collaborates with other health care professionals by providing advice to physicians and other health care practitioners on the interactions and side effects of medications.
• Orders and purchases medications and pharmaceutical supplies while maintaining stock; ensures items are handled and stored properly.
• Ensures all state laws and regulations as well as company polices to maintain compliance.
• Maintains third party contracts for pharmacy and develops relationships with vendors.
• Be aware of prescription drug pricing and reimbursement to achieve optimal gross profit margins
• Performs pharmacy technician, customer service or other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy
• Current, active Pharmacy license as granted by the LA State Board of Pharmacy
• Minimum 1 year of retail pharmacy experience
• Proven capability to manage employees effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
• Must be customer service driven, possess good communication skills, have a great attitude and strong work ethic
• Must be able to establish good relationships with physicians and their office personnel
• Ability to master pharmacy software (Pioneer RX)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43.81 - $70.42 per hour
