Pitching Coach Assistant Job at Detroit Tigers
JOB SUMMARY:
The Detroit Tigers are seeking a Pitching Coach Assistant to assist in the development of the pitching staff at our High-A West Michigan affiliate in Comstock Park, MI. The Pitching Coach Assistant will assist in the instruction and development of Tigers minor league pitchers with an emphasis on incorporating data and technology into daily practice sessions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Detroit Tigers are seeking a Pitching Coach Assistant to assist in the development of the pitching staff at our High-A West Michigan affiliate in Comstock Park, MI. The Pitching Coach Assistant will assist in the instruction and development of Tigers minor league pitchers with an emphasis on incorporating data and technology into daily practice sessions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Pitching Coach in designing and conducting daily practices
- Help prepare advance scouting reports on opposing teams using Tigers’ proprietary research tools
- Help design and follow through on implementation of season-long pitcher development plans
- Monitor player progress using ball- and player-tracking technologies such as Trackman, Rapsodo, Hawk-Eye, etc
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Background in pitching as a player or coach at the professional or collegiate level
- Works well in a team environment
- Knowledge of current ball- and player-tracking technology including, but not limited to, Trackman, Rapsodo, Hawk-Eye, etc
- Working knowledge of pitch movement characteristics and pitch design.
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to travel and work long hours
- Spanish-speaking ability preferred
- Experience in SQL/R/Python preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office and outdoor environment
- Evening, weekend, and holiday hours will be required
- Position will be required to travel
