Job Description

Position Overview:

The Paint Supervisor is responsible for assigning and coordinating the work in the Paint Department to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality. You will interface with senior plant leadership and will be responsible for safety training, accident investigation, managing work schedules, counseling, and coaching employees to exceed team goals and corrective action to address problems. Through strong leadership and direction to your team members, you will create a positive and productive environment that exceeds department goals.

Responsibilities

Must be able to:

  • Supervise and direct the day-to-day operations of the Paint area within the production facility
  • Review and monitor production schedules, material, and labor resources; assigning employees to maximize production objectives, maintain quality and attain output requirements
  • Accurately assess runtimes for new parts and communicate to Bill of Materials department
  • Implement, train, and promote safety programs and safe work practices
  • Ensure that business goals, deadlines and performance standards are met
  • Set goals for workers ensuring they comply with the company’s plans and vision
  • Promote sound employee relationships within the department by developing and maintaining an effective organization with qualified personnel
  • Recognize excellent performance of staff to leader and human resources team based on an assessment of team and individual performance
  • Prepare and approve daily time sheets for hourly employees, production summaries, overtime, and downtime reports
  • Champion, promote, and support continuous improvement to achieve on-going improvements in quality, productivity, and deliver performance goals for self and team members and other cross-functional initiatives
  • Achieve productivity, efficiency, customer service, cost, quality, safety, and employee engagement objectives
  • Provide direction, leadership, development, and support to direct reports through empowerment, teamwork, on-the-job assignments
  • Inspect product to verify production specifications are met; investigate deviations using root-cause analysis techniques and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrences
  • Participate in establishing and modifying operational methods and processes by recommending changes in materials, equipment and procedures
  • Maintain a variety of reports, records and production documentation to reflect schedules and performance
  • Train and onboard new workers in the organization’s operating procedures and standards ensuring they understand and perform their roles while following all established work instructions, procedures and policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or relevant work experience
  • Proven lead operator experience
  • Possess strong integrity and trust characteristics

  • Analytical; ability to obtain and leverage data to aid in sound decision making

Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree
  • Manufacturing experience with a high-level understanding of the Paint processes and procedures
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and other continuous process improvement methods

Physical Requirements such as below:

  • Able to lift up to 55 lbs Standing, sitting, squatting, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching and reach out to arm’s length and reach overhead
  • Work safely around moving equipment, power tools, and industrial vehicles
  • Repetitive use of upper extremities
  • Will spend part of the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
