The Power BI senior developer will be responsible for building out our Power BI platform in order to extract more value from our data assets. The candidate must be self-motivated and can effectively communicate with various levels of employees ranging from entry level to senior leadership. You will be required to collaborate with business stakeholders across the organization to understand analytics needs, develop plans to address those needs, and deliver Power BI solutions to meet those needs. Candidates should be experienced in all aspects of Power BI; including enterprise architecture, establishing gateways, use of embedding, DAX, SQL, Power Query, and M programming models. They must have hands-on experience with Power BI, dashboards, and applications for mid-market and/or enterprise-scale organizations.

What your day looks like:

• Play an active leadership role on the Analytics team, embodying our mission and constantly pushing the team to grow and evolve
• Ensure timely and effective delivery of work across the team by setting expectations, prioritizing work, delivering feedback, and managing conflict as needed
• Work with Analysts and Business Users to translate functional specifications into technical designs for implementation and deployment
• Strong understanding of requirements processes for implementing dashboards, drill throughs, and standardized reports
• Participate in design discussions across ETL, business and DB teams to guide the reporting requirements and provide specifications for the reporting semantic layer development
• Support the data architecture and data governance function to continually expand their capabilities
• Document metric calculations and definitions while adhering to data management principles
• Plan & execute using agile methodologies, developing & delivering within predefined sprints
• Willingness to learn and champion new technologies that support business capabilities
• Eager to explore how machine learning and artificial intelligence can support business objectives
• Leverage technology and critical thinking skills to continually drive innovation and automation into our existing methodologies, processes and reporting.
• Ability to technically guide a team of comparatively junior developers to deliver Power BI assets

The skills you bring:

• Experience with Power BI data processing tools: Power Query, DAX, and SQL languages
• Firm understanding of dimensional and tabular models that enable efficient analysis in Power BI
• Proven experience in performance tuning of Power BI dashboards and reports
• Experience with monitoring health and performance of entire Power BI platform
• Knowledge of Data Warehouse best practices that enable self-service analytics
• Ability to review and understand stored procedures
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• In-depth experience with SQL Development Tools - Visual Studios Data Tools, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Data Tools, Azure DevOps

The experience and education you have:

• 4+ years of experience in building interactive reports, dashboards, and/or integrating modeling results and have strong Data Visualization design skills
• At least 3 years of experience with Power BI development and administration
• 1 - 2 years in creating Azure Analysis Services (or SSAS) models and working with DAX
• Ability to create database views in SQL Server and Snowflake for data consumption by Power BI
• Ability to Support Internal and External facing Power BI Assets is Preferred
• Exposure to Microsoft's Business Intelligence tools: SSRS and SSIS, or paginated reports
• Ability to succeed in a fast paced, matrix structured environment
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
