Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports the TS Supervisor and the R&D team by providing expertise in experimental design for process development including packaging development and data driven results.
  • Designs and implements Plant Trial activities in accordance with Company expectations and initiatives (personal safety, product safety, customer specifications, etc.)
  • Researches and gathers information from existing materials/processes and communicating with resource experts inside and outside of production to aid in the development of plant testing criteria.
  • Compiles and incorporates critical criteria and standards into production documents, base settings, and job aids.
  • Creates and/or guides development of tools (job aids, equipment jigs or other resources) to support the product/process.
  • Identifies and communicates real-time challenges identified during Plant trials.
  • Reviews and finalizes production documentation for newly developed products, processes, and/or equipment.
  • Coordinates plant activities regarding packaging for raw material, WIP and finish goods
  • Leads package development and implementation to the plant/distribution center environments, including generation of plant supporting documents, specifications, artwork review, and data collection.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of packaging materials, principles and operating systems for OFD to acts as the subject matter expert.
  • Develops and prepares detailed packaging material specifications in collaboration with suppliers and Supply Chain. – Optiva, Adobe Illustrator.
  • Reviews and signoff on packaging artwork- BLUE
  • Leads packaging material testing and development
  • Develop and implement packaging procedures, testing and standards
  • Acts as liaison with procurement between packaging vendor and OFD.
  • Supports Manufacturing and Engineering in equipment design and optimization.

What are the qualifications of this job?

  • Requires a Bachelor degree in applied science or related field. Equivalent work experience and education will be considered.
  • Broad knowledge of analytical package testing methodology and problem solving skills with the ability to clearly communicate results.
  • Understanding of packaging material capabilities, application, and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis methods and applications.
  • Must hold current, valid drivers’ license and provide proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Must have reliable transportation to transport self between company facilities during work hours, as needed, and transportation to and from off-site company events.
  • Proven history of packaging design and implementation

Working conditions of this job?

  • Office environment with exposure to plant conditions (varying temperatures, wet, dry, high noise etc).
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds repetitively required.
