Purpose of Role: The Process Control Engineer is accountable for the support and improvement of current industrial and automated systems operations as well as the design and implementation of new systems and processes. As appropriate, will provide guidance and support for ESCO’s overall advanced technology initiatives and automated solutions for the purpose of improving efficiencies, lowering costs, and improving quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety Culture.
  • Obtain complete understanding of company process control systems and their impact on the production line beginning with scrap melting through refining steel, liquid to solid transformation and finished product; required partnering closely with Controls Group
  • Make recommendations for development action; analyze, modify, and/or drive actions to improve programmable logic controllers (PLC) and human-machine interfaces (HMI)
  • Lead efforts to identify new sensor, control technologies, validation of performance and application potential, and establish network to maintain awareness of technology and new equipment development to improve safety, process flow, reduce cost, and/or improve quality.
  • Work with Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and Controls team to plan, purchase, and install new projects and equipment ensuring the project works with existing controls systems and can be added to for future controls and systems data collection technology.

Job Knowledge/Experience:

  • Must have 3+ years of manufacturing, industrial, or electrical/controls engineering experience in an automated manufacturing environment
  • Experience with driving process improvements into operations for improving safety, costs, implementing quality and process controls systems and/or equipment, along with good communication with various departments required.
  • Experience with PLC’s including Allen Bradley and Siemens, HMI , VFD, DCS, vision systems, and servo motion controls a plus.
  • Experience with industrial robotic systems, CAD/CAM, and process controls preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering required
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.

  • This new role includes an opportunity to participate in our Engineering Rotation Program. This program is designed to provide advanced development across all aspects of engineering from concept to customer use, in mining and construction, by exposing you to diverse project experiences across manufacturing, products, and innovation and technology. Our organizational development team will be working to ensure you are exposed to some additional learning opportunities in your new role that may not have presented themselves during the normal course of work. After 1-2 years in your role, you’ll have the opportunity to see another area across the engineering function.
