Product Competitive Analyst

Summary

Members of the Life Product Development team are responsible for creating innovative products that will drive profitable growth. The Competitive Intelligence Analyst will support the Life Product Development team through obtaining, analyzing and communicating competitive information that will drive the product strategy. In this role you will work closely with marketing, product management and sales teams. You will play an active role in researching, developing, and communicating competitive intelligence.


Responsibilities

  • Investigate how industry, customer and competitor dynamics and external trends impact our business
  • Serves as an internal consultant with a basic understanding of the competitive landscape for life insurance.
  • Use competitor illustration software to compile numerical and qualitative data.
  • Analyze competitor product filings to reverse engineer product mechanics
  • Make recommendations on market opportunities based on analysis
  • Research & analyze competitor products and summarize findings.
  • Maintains knowledge of current and emerging trends in the industry, assesses the impact, and collaborates on ways to capitalize on new trends or reduce emerging threats across the businesses
  • Gain familiarity with the life insurance industry and develop in-depth knowledge of different insurance lines and products.
  • Assist with development of life insurance products by providing competitive intelligence which will inform product design
  • Develop an understanding of insurance sales processes.
  • Support requests for ad hoc competitive intelligence

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, business, finance, computer science or related preferred
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Self-starter and be able to work independently as well as a team member
  • Excellent analytical skills and verbal communication and the ability to work as part of a team
  • 4 years of experience in financial services or related field preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.
