Job Description:


The Product Manager works collaboratively on projects to execute our strategic road map, while promoting DevOps best practices across the organization. This position is relied on to employ a high degree of technical skill and precision in a multi cloud environment running 24x7x365. This role assists in providing strategic vision and leadership, working with the CIO to develop and direct enterprise-wide development efforts, and has a specific focus on ensuring that our DevOps team is operating with the tools, guidance, and support needed to be recognized as an industry leader in our space.

Our DevOps team is given the mandate of supporting the company’s strategic vision through a variety of product delivery goals. Our developers are responsible for the total design, deployment, and lifecycle management for in-house innovation products. The day-to-day for this role consists of equal parts team management, project planning, and innovation. The DevOps team not only cares for existing core systems, but also has a focus on building new ones and finding opportunities to innovate between the old and the new. The team is expected to work together with IT to establish and share 24/7 on-call coverage for platform components (and associated products) through provided company incident response platforms.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive a team of product developers, fostering development through hiring, mentorship, hands-on collaboration, industry participation, and partnership with open-source and higher education resources.
  • Ensure that staff are continually challenged with an opportunity to grow their careers, take on ownership/leadership roles, and learn new technologies that may be outside their immediate comfort zone.
  • Responsible for the curation of the organization’s CI/CD pipeline supporting innovation, continual improvement, and long-term management.
  • Lead product initiatives and features from conception, to launching MVPs, and further CI to deliver mature experiences.
  • Defining and owning the product backlog for DevOps team.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and support the greater IT team with ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal management frameworks.
  • Define operational standards to appropriately manage and monitor product features (housed in both private and future public environments).
  • Defining and owning the product backlog for the DevOps teams.
  • Create and define operational standards for product and daily documentation within company systems (JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
  • Be a champion for change by spreading awareness of Product principles and practices across the organization, advocating innovation (big or small), and by positively representing our team to industry peers and partners.
  • Most importantly: establish a culture of open access, fast failures, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Experience and Skills:


Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: At least 3-5+ years of product management experience or 3+ years of experience in product design, agile delivery, business analysis, data science, or software engineering.

Skills: Strong decision-making, problem-solving, critical thinking, and testing skills.

Ability to deliver product development plans independently and to translate ideas and requirements into technical solutions with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated understanding of how different components interact in a distributed environment.

Ability to bring an entrepreneurial mindset to tackle challenges and needs that are completely new for the organization.

Requires strategic thinking, the ability to concentrate in a distracting environment, and the ability to interpret complex data into actionable tasks that support organizational objectives.

Communication: Must have superior interpersonal skills and be comfortable engaging with people from a wide variety of roles, cultures, and economic backgrounds.
