Job summary:

The Graphic Designer Specialist produces high-quality, on-brand print designs that advances Spire’s culture and drives company growth. The ideal candidate possesses a mix of both creative and technical skills, works quickly and thrives in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment. Humility, teamwork and collaboration are core behaviors needed to excel in this position.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Design print collateral, apparel and branded merchandise that achieves a strategic communications or marketing objective, including but not limited to brochures, fliers, folders, posters, signage, direct mail, publications, stationery and invitations
  • Translate complex concepts and information into simplified, compelling visuals and designs, including icons, illustrations and infographics
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional team members, including creative services manager, copywriters, account managers, and internal business partners
  • Design and format PowerPoint presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Manage all elements of print production, including production specs, cost estimates, production schedules and vendor communication
  • Package and preflight files for production according to established standards and specifications
  • Make various formats of approved designs production-ready and resolve any artwork issues that arise during production
  • Conduct press checks, as needed
  • Uphold and champion the visual identity guidelines and standards
  • Remain up to date on technical knowledge and industry best practices for design and print production
  • Build strong relationships with team members and external suppliers to best meet company goals

Required and preferred education (certifications, licenses, etc.):

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field


Required competencies, knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • A minimum of 5 years of graphic design experience in a creative in-house or agency environment
  • A minimum of 2 years of print production experience
  • Ability to demonstrate the core and job category competencies: customer-focused, results-driven, teamwork, communications, adaptability, initiative, problem solving and quality
  • Ability to lead by example in support of the company’s essential characteristics and values: strong ethics and integrity, dedication to a safe work environment, commitment to a diverse workforce that recognizes and respects every individual’s unique skills and perspectives
  • Strong online portfolio, demonstrating a high level of visual design, illustration, photography and typography skills across a variety of print and digital mediums
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise using Adobe Creative Suite, with the willingness and ability
  • To adopt new tools as required
  • Strong production management skills with understanding of print production processes and terminology
  • Experience with presentation design using Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, communicate progress and meet demanding deadlines, while seeing the big picture and understanding the interdependencies
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple print production projects
  • Ability to work quickly and through multiple iterations while maintaining strong attention to detail and timeliness
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a relentless focus on teamwork and having a positive, caring attitude
  • Strong listening, problem-solving and decision-making skills


Physical demands, environment and schedule:

  • Work is performed in a shared, open-office environment
  • Evening and weekend hours may be necessary in order to meet critical project deadlines
