Project Coordinator- Mental Health Support Job at Clemson University

This person will be embedded within the sport club programs around the upstate as a part-time professional, acting as a regular community resource and point of contact for the mental health programs or services being needed and offered. This individual should exhibit an element of formallized training in mental health, social services or a related field or degree and demonstrate an understanding of the connection within sport environments. In addition, this position will support: pre-training data collection, the development of informational materials, organizing and instructing MHFA/USC-MHS training, organizing NAMI ETS training, organizing supplemental bimonthly training sessions, referral services, supporting sport community engagement through social media posts, assist in securing sustainability funding and developing sustainability plans, support the development of the Upstate Mental Health and Sport Coalition, project evaluation, and dissemination of project evaluation results and other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:


40% - Essential - Mental Health Support:
This person will primarily provide support in Mental Health and Sport programs and social services in the Upstate sport clubs. They will work with local coaches, administrators and parents to identify individuals who may be struggling and either provide appropriate support (within their scope of practice) or help with referrals to our Mental Health grant partners.

30% - Essential - Mental Health Training:
This person will be able to provide Mental Health First Aid Training or USC-MHS training and support the training of athletes in NAMI ¿ Ending the Silence. They will be responsible for organizing and delivering bimonthly training session for the clubs on topics related to mental health and sport in support of continuing education about mental health with the sport community in the Upstate.

20% - Essential - Community connection, research and reporting:

Assist in Disseminating project results and report to SAMHSA

  • Supporting pre/post-training data collection
  • Support the Upstate SC MH and Sport coalition (USCMHSC) and gather interest from community partners
  • Support the Coalition in their development of a sustainability plan
  • Support the Project referral reporting
  • Assist in Disseminating project results and report to SAMHSA


10% - Essential - Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Education - High School or Equivalent

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


Education - 1st Bachelor's Degree

Individual should have a bachelors degree in mental health, social services or a related field and demonstrate an understanding of the connection within sport environments.

WORK SCHEDULE:


Standard Hrs: 20 per week; Band: 06; expected pay range up to $24.45/hour

  • This temporary position will be in place for up to 45 weeks.
