At the Cedar Rapids IFF location we are a leader in the industrial biotechnology sector which develops innovative enzymes and bioproducts to improve the performance and reduce the environmental impact of the cleaning, textiles, animal nutrition, grain processing, and chemical industries. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include
- Participate in lab problem solving and troubleshooting
- Perform basic aseptic techniques
- Preparing reagents and supplies for tests
- Analytical testing for process and reporting of test results
- Contamination control – pursuing possible sources
- Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting basic lab equipment
- Support and participate in training process
- Support internal customers
- Adhering to all Safety, ISO, HACCP, GMP, Kosher, Halal, and plant expectations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- B.S./A.S. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in an industrial lab environment
- Capable of working both independently and in a collaborative setting
- Motivated and creative with strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills highly regarded
- Self-starter with good organizational skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and good record keeping skills
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities are required
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly driven team where you can apply your microbiology and analytical skills in our QA/QC Lab. This team provides ongoing support to our large-scale fermentation process. The successful candidate must be available to work a rotating 12-hour shift, 6:00AM – 6:00PM. With our shift schedule you will work 7 of 14 days and every other weekend.
