POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (PSR):

  • Monitors and participates in the improvement of the quality systems that pertain to pertinent areas of expertise and job responsibility
  • Develops and presents QA presentation materials to customers
  • Support and assists Senior Quality Assurance Engineer and Quality Manager
  • Able to conduct quality control (QC) inspections on internal/external products, materials, components, parts, etc., at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards
  • Analyzes statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards
  • Recommends new or enhanced methods, procedures and standards

Must be knowledgeable in all customer program requirements and quality assurance processes

Role Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer in our Quality Department. The position is located at our Mendon, MI facility. The role will include responsibilities for supporting the QMS and improving key performance indicators (KPIs) for the company.

Key Responsibilities

· Works with functional teams on Advanced Product Quality Planning, and with cross-functional teams on the development of new and existing products.

· Follow-up daily on customer web sites (Ford Supplier Portal, GM SupplyPower, etc).

· Actively participates in the PFMEA’s development.

· Prepares and updates the Control Plan documentation

· Evaluates quality issues using problem solving tools (5Why, 8D, fishbone, etc.)

· Facilitating and reporting results of 8D meetings

· Liaises between customers, division reps in the customer plants, division quality team members, engineering team members and production team members

· Organize and follow-up with third party sorting at division and customer plants, if required

· Participate in training of production, quality team members when necessary

· Review dimensional reports, performs statistical studies, reports data and facilitates problem solving activities based on dimensional findings

· Creates and updates Procedures, SWI and Visual Aids

· Review quality performance and customer bulletins so they can be communicated to the team for the necessary actions to ensure compliance. Update customer websites as required.

· Able to conduct audits (LPA, Supplier, etc.)

· Assist in disposition of suspect material

· Support IATF 16949 implementation and compliance

· Participates in plant wide continuous improvement projects

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • BS/BA required

· 3 -5 years automotive experience as a Quality Engineer

· Prior experience with ISO/IATF16949 processes

· Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process submissions,

GD&T, Flow Diagrams, FMEA’s, Control Plans, & Statistics

· Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis using various problem-solving techniques

· Demonstrated ability to use basic measurement tools (height gauge, Vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, etc)

· Strong written & verbal communicate skills. Must be able to communicate to all levels.

· Ability to coordinate and facilitate cross-functional team meetings

· Strong attention to detail

· Ability to work to meet deadlines and multiple demands

· Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Additional Knowledge/Training:

  • Strong familiarity with automotive OEM requirements and expectations.
  • Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement experience a plus
  • Experience with OEM customer portals (Ford, GM, Stellantis, etc.)
  • Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated project implementation planning skills, ability to set objectives and determine incremental goals.
  • Confident in delivering direct feedback and public speaking.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Ability to think critically and perform cost-benefit analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform and maintain composure in a high-pressure environment.
  • Possesses interpersonal tact, ability to deescalate situations and facilitate teamwork
