Defense contractor involved with product development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles in the Los Angeles International Airport area. Purpose:

Ensure consistent quality of production by supporting activities with the Business Management System (BMS). Ensure implementation of customer contractual requirements through timely contract review and configuration management processes. Quickly and effectively take action when potential non-conformances are found by supporting material review board huddles and facilitating corrective action process. Gather data and perform analysis to review for product defect trends and/or process metrics. Maintain up to date with new and emerging technologies and methods that relate to Quality Assurance.

Job Duties:

Customer & Program Support

  • Review and comprehend customer requirements and ensures that they are met throughout MEC.
  • Perform contract reviews, purchase order reviews, and planning reviews, to ensure that quality requirements and potential business Risks are identified and flowed down.
  • Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) reviews
  • Collaborate with program management, engineering, purchasing, production control, operations and inspection in order to support the fulfillment of contract requirements.
  • Facilitate customer source inspection events
  • Review and approve FAI documentation in accordance with AS9102 standards

Defect Prevention Support

  • Participates and leads closed-loop root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Maintain Quality metrics for tracking daily activities within the department.
  • Supports implementation of Containment and Dispositions of non-conforming material.
  • Identify, lead, and implement continuous improvement activities collaboratively with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program Office departments.

QMS Implementation Support

  • Leads and drives compliance efforts of ISO 9001:2015 and/or AS9100D, including internal surveillance auditing of establish work instructions
  • Identify and initiate continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute in a team environment, be flexible, and volunteer support to meet team goals.
  • Support and contribute to the implementation of Management Review requirements.

Job Requirements:

Process Skills

Must have proficient understanding of :

  • Risk Management and Statistical Process Control
  • Lean concepts and their application for best practices
  • GD&T and able to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Experience with Quality Engineering tools, i.e. Cause Map, Fish Bone analysis, PFMEA, Six Sigma
  • ISO 9001/AS9100 standard requirements
  • Process Approach and PDCA
  • Configuration management principles and practices
  • Ability to interpret and understand customer and industry specifications, i.e., ISO, ASME, MIL STD, MS, etc.

Education

  • BS degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or quality engineering degrees preferred OR equivalent years of on-the-job experience in relevant field.
  • 5 years Quality Engineering experience preferred.
  • ASQE certification (a plus)

  • Provide project leadership for process improvement initiatives
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent communications skills – both verbal and technical writing Attention to details and be a self-starter

  • MS Office proficient, preferably proficient in Excel
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Must read, write, and speak English
  • Lean Green belt trained (a plus)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year
