Job Title - Regional EHS Manager - West

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the EHS & Sustainability Director and in collaboration with other functions, the Regional EHS Manager supports all aspects of the Imerys Safety System and EHS regulatory compliance. The position will also deploy and drive group strategic initiatives that reduce or eliminate risk and continually improve EHS performance. This role will lead the EHS programs across multiple operations located in Western States of the USA.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert of Imerys protocols concerning environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety programs and procedures, and support site interpretation and implementation.
  • Oversee the coordination and maintenance of site Industrial Hygiene, Safety, and Environmental programs. .
  • Compile, analyze and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents.
  • Oversees, prepares, maintains and submits all safety and environmental reports and permits in a timely manner in accordance with Federal, State, and Local EH&S regulations.
  • Oversees and coordinates all training mandated by MSHA, OSHA, EPA, state or local regulatory agencies and provides continuous training for Site Coordinators, Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers and others.
  • Support the development, planning, delivery and review of EHS training.
  • Lead and participate in site audits and inspections and support tracking and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Lead Pre and Post Incident Learning Teams.
  • Work closely with PMA-NA EHS Leadership Team, Regional and Site Management to develop, implement, measure, and monitor the success of EHS in their respective region.
  • Manages & maintains the relationship with all applicable regulatory bodies (e.g. county, state, federal)
  • Maintains and ensures current working knowledge of Federal, State and local safety, environmental and occupational health regulations (e.g., MSHA, OSHA, EPA, and California EHS laws).
  • Manages workers compensation process, reports, etc. for the Region to include workers in the States of California and Washington.

Skills and Attributes Requirements

  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training, and motivating employees.
  • Strong understanding of Federal and State Safety and Environmental regulations and maintaining compliance.
  • Experience with Environmental permitting requirements and processes.
  • Diligently meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Experience in developing and implementing H&OP, HPI or Safety II
  • Excels at the development of clear, concise, and effective procedures and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated experience with the implementation and sustainment of EHS programs
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions in a changing environment and experience in a matrix organization
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage parallel projects with multiple moving pieces independently or with a team
  • Excellent people skills and ability to align people and resources toward organizational success.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Experience in interacting with and influencing all levels of an organization
  • Self-starter with a drive to continuously improve
  • Balance of humility and self-confidence

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate technical discipline (such as Environmental, Health, Safety, or related area).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Environment, Safety and Health roles in a mining, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Professional Licenses: EHS certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are beneficial but not required.
  • Preferred: Bilingual English/Spanish.

Required Activities

1. 40% Hybrid Environment (Plant Office / Home Office)

2. Up to 40% travel to other IMERYS locations, consultant/vendor locations, and professional meetings. Variable field activities in Plant and Mining operations involve information, data collection, and collaboration with the operation at all levels. Physical activities may involve climbing stairs or ladders, hiking, working near chemicals, water bodies, and hot equipment.

California Salary Range: $140,000 USD - $160,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
