ACHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center and licensed primary care clinic. We provide Family Medicine and Dental Care, with additional specialists in Behavioral Health, Chiropractic, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Podiatry and Optometry. ACHC Clinics are located across Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties.

The Registered Dietitian uses their expert knowledge of nutrition and food to promote health and manage disease. They plan and conduct food service or nutritional programs to help patients to lead healthy lives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Assess patient’s nutritional and health needs.
  • Counsel patient on nutrition issue and healthy eating habits.
  • Develop meal and nutrition plans, taking patient’s preferences and budgets into account.
  • Evaluate and monitor the effects of nutrition plans and practices and make changes as needed.
  • Provide necessary medical nutrition therapy for high-risk patients.
  • Review regularly with staff: diet recall methods, accurate plotting of weight on grid, nutrition education and appropriate interventions.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles speaking about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases.
  • Document patient’s progress.
  • Keep up with the latest food and nutritional science research.
  • Teach the public and other health specialists about nutrition.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to provide medical nutrition therapy.
  • Create customized nutritional programs based on the health needs of patient.
  • Counsel patients on how to improve their health through nutrition.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to travel locally

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year experience in the field of perinatal nutrition preferred

LICENSURE & CERTIFICATION

  • Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
