Labs Scientist
Our client, an innovative, values-driven, food and wellness focused company, is looking for a talented molecular biologist with experience in strain development and yeast biology to join their discovery team in North Brunswick, NJ for a 6 month contract.
The microbiologist will conduct research and help collaboration between scientists to develop new products under the supervision of a senior scientist.
Responsibilities:
- Perform work experiments and research by following protocols and SOPs on the platform that advances innovative product development projects within discovery pipeline
- Research scientific methods to design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret results
- Maintain strong sense of scientific/technology knowledge and current developments in the field by staying up to date on literature
- Communicate outcomes of experiments to the manager and downstream process development scientists
- Follow safety procedures and Good laboratory Practices
Qualifications:
- BS with 5+ years of industry experience, or MS with 2+ years or PhD
- Field of study: systems biology, microbiology, molecular biology or similar fields with experience in yeast or fungi
- Experience with cloning, PCR, qPCR, gene delivery, CRISPR, DNA/RNA purification, bacterial transformation
- Basic understanding of bacterial/yeast genetics
Desirable experience:
- Experience with expression screening
- Prior experience in liquid handling/robotics i
- Experience in cell banking, glycerol stock maintenance, transformation, transfection
