JOB SUMMARY

Tangent’s Retail Sales Representative you will be responsible for using their knowledge of company products or services to connect with Outdoor Furniture Retail customers providing education, sales promotion/influence and securing secondary sales. Their duties include developing sales pitches to sell products or services, making cold calls to sales leads or taking calls from prospective customers and maintaining documentation of their sales activity through Salesforce for review and assessment of performance to set annual individual and company goals.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Travel within sales territory to meet prospects and customers
  • Conduct calls and face-to-face meetings with customers based upon defined time and territory planning
  • Build and maintain relationships with new and repeat customers to secure sales growth and promotional opportunities
  • Maintain records of all sales leads and/or customer accounts via CRM, Salesforce, in support weekly and monthly reviews of sales activity and achievement of set individual and company annual goals
  • Educate customers on how products or services can benefit them in support of future growth and economic advantages
  • Set a defined monthly time and territory schedule ensuring alignment to defined activity goals and maximizing customer contacts
  • Monitor the company’s industry competitors, new products, and market conditions to understand a customer's specific needs
  • Work closely with marketing department to help build the brand
Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Individual should demonstrate confidence and resilience in maintaining a positive attitude and communicating with conviction while applying active listening building rapport and long-term sustainable customer relationships
  • Comfortable giving product and program levels presentations to large customer groups – formal PowerPoint presentations with visual Ads and handouts
  • Good listening and communication skills – being able to identify customer needs and potential business opportunities in support of sales growth
  • Superior interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals
  • Demonstrated advanced skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, Asana, and proprietary software)
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to ~70% of the time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 – 5 years of related outside sale experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to spend time traveling between customer meetings – drive time and time on your feet prolonged
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
