EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY-Seasonal Creel Clerk:
The KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE & PARKS, WaKeeney District Fisheries Biologist is seeking one individual to assist with administering an eight (8) month creel census at Colby-Villa High Lake and Atwood Township Lake. Employment will commence on approximately March 1 and run through October 31, 2023.

WORK DUTIES: The hired creel clerk will be responsible for traveling (via State vehicle) to Villa High and Atwood Township Lakes to interview anglers during predetermined sampling periods on weekdays and weekends. During March, July, August, September, and October the clerk will conduct interviews during twelve (12) sampling periods at each lake.

During April, May, and June eighteen, (18) sampling periods will be conducted at each lake. Each sampling period is two (2) hours in length at both respective lakes. Some flexibility is allowed relative to scheduling sampling periods within monthly timeframes.

BENEFITS: Hourly salary, $13.00 to $14.00/hr. depending on experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license; must be a minimum of 18 years of age; able to work weekends, nights, and evenings as required; work with minimal supervision, demonstrate responsible behavior and attention to detail. Knowledge and identification of the major Kansas sportfish species is preferred. Portray a positive image and be willing to provide public information and assistance as necessary. Individuals possessing a flexible schedule are highly desired.
