Selkirk Fire Rescue and EMS

Selkirk Fire is looking for exceptional men and women to join our professional, innovative, and progressive seasonal wildland program. The wildland program offers training opportunities in wildfire, first aid/CPR, structure fire, and rescue disciplines. The wildland firefighters will work alongside the career staff and respond to 911 calls while in the district. The wildland firefighters are assigned to tactical water tenders listed as a national resource and will be available for off-district assignments for up to 21 days.

Selkirk Fire Rescue and EMS is a combination career/volunteer district located in the panhandle of Northern Idaho. SF has 24 full-time career firefighters. SF serves large rural communities that have significant wildland-urban interface areas. The City of Sandpoint, Dover, Sagle, Westmond, Cocolalla, Garfield Bay, Bottle Bay, Vay, and Laclede is included in the response area.

Candidates must meet minimum qualifications before the first paid shift. Candidates must be 18 years old or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, have or ability to obtain a commercial driver's license; minimum training for wildland firefighter 2 (S-130, S-190, ICS 100, L-190); physically able to pass arduous pack test. SF will provide guidance and an apparatus to obtain a commercial driver's license before the first paid shift if necessary.

Desired qualifications but not mandatory include Idaho EMT; previous wildland experience; wildland firefighter 1 or higher; structure firefighter 1 or higher, ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical repairs and breakdowns.
