Job Summary

Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking Security Specialists to provide security expertise, guidance, consultation, facilitation, and leadership in all security related functions.

NGA is a Department of Defense (DoD) combat support agency and a member of the National Intelligence Community (IC). NGA develops imagery and map-based intelligence solutions for U.S. national defense, homeland security, and safety of navigation. NGA’s mission is to “provide timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial-intelligence in support of national security.”


Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Provide security expertise, guidance, consultation, facilitation, and leadership in all security related functions pertaining to:
    • Personnel security; industrial and physical security; computer investigation and awareness; security operations; and other security business.


Level 1

  • Associates Degree or equivalent w/ 2 - 3 Years Direct Relevant Experience, includes >1 year within DoD/IC.
  • General knowledge of security practices.
    • Knowledge may be broad based and crossing multiple markets (e.g., government, industry).
  • Works closely with senior specialists or task leads. Must obtain DoD Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification IAW DoD Manual # 3305.13M within 1 year of service start date.
  • Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.


Level 2


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent w/ 3 - 6 Years Direct Relevant Experience, includes >2 years within DoD/IC *** and *** For Access Control Specialist Positions: Experience must include >2 years of SMS and CAC.
  • General knowledge of security practices with emphasis in personnel, physical and/or industrial security.
  • Experience may be broad based, crossing multiple markets (e.g., government, industry) and may also include relevant and associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices.
  • Works independently and closely with senior specialists or task leads. Must obtain DoD Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification IAW DoD Manual # 3305.13M within 1 year of service start date.
  • Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.


Level 3


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent w/ 7 - 10 Years Direct Relevant Experience, includes >3 years within DoD/IC *** and *** For Access Control Specialist Positions: Experience must include >2 years of SMS and CAC.
  • Significant experience in a distinct functional or cross-functional security areas (e.g., personnel, physical, industrial security; computer investigations; classification management; operational security; security education, etc.) based on the specific needs of the task.
  • Experience may be broad based, crossing multiple markets (e.g., government, industry) and may also include relevant and associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices.
  • Experience directing the activities of security specialists as necessary on activities related to the specified field or discipline.
  • Must obtain DoD Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification IAW DoD Manual # 3305.13M within 1 year of service start date.
  • Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.


Level 4


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent w/ 11 - 14 Years Direct Relevant Experience, includes >5 years within DoD/IC.
  • Extensive experience in a distinct functional or cross-functional security areas (e.g., personnel, physical, industrial security; computer investigations; classification management; operational security; security education, etc.) based on the specific needs of the task.
  • Experience may be broad based, crossing multiple markets (e.g., government, industry) and may also include relevant and associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices.
  • Directs the activities of specialists or other staff as necessary related to the specified security field or security discipline.
  • Must obtain DoD Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification IAW DoD Manual # 3305.13M within 1 year of service start date.
  • Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.


Level 5

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent w/ >15 Years Direct Relevant Experience, includes >5 years within DoD/IC.
  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) experience in a distinct functional or cross-functional security areas (e.g., personnel, physical, industrial security; computer investigations; classification management; operational security; security education, etc.) based on the specific needs of the task.
  • Experience may be broad based, crossing multiple markets (e.g., government, industry) and may also include relevant and associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices.
  • Directs the activities of specialists or other staff as necessary related to the specified security field or security discipline.
  • Must obtain DoD Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification IAW DoD Manual # 3305.13M within 1 year of service start date.
